GCSE Music Trip to Royal Festival Hall- London Philharmonic November 20, 2024
BackOn Wednesday, 20th November 2024. Twenty-Eight outstanding GCSE Music students were chosen to go see the London Philharmonic play at the famous Royal Festival Hall in Central London.
The concert featured many different pieces by a range of composers (Vivaldi, Britten, Bach, Beethoven, Bacewciz, etc). This was coupled with a presenter breaking down the music in an engaging way, and a big screen was placed behind the Orchestra that picked out key elements from the music- perfect for helping our students engage and apply their learning. The students were impeccably behaved and thoroughly enjoyed each piece. In particular, the London Philharmonic played Badinerie by Bach- a piece that our students have studied in-depth for their appraising exam worth 40 per cent of their Music GCSE. They also were able to hear Winter from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi- a crowd favourite. The concert ended too quickly and our GCSE students were lucky enough to take a photo close to the stage afterwards.
