London Philharmonic at Royal Festival Hall
BackOn Thursday November 23, 2023, 30 outstanding GCSE Music students were chosen to go see the London Philharmonic play at the famous Royal Festival Hall in Central London. The concert featured many different pieces by a range of composers (Beethoven, Martines, Zimmer, Copland, etc). This was coupled with a presenter breaking down the music in an engaging way and a big screen was placed behind the Orchestra that picked out key elements from the music - perfect for helping our students engage and apply their learning. The students were impeccably behaved and thoroughly enjoyed each piece. In particular, the London Philharmonic played the theme from the film The Lord of The Rings and our students were thrilled to find out that they were listening to the same orchestra that recorded the soundtrack for the movie itself. The concert ended too quickly and our GCSE students were lucky enough to take a photo on stage afterwards. Overall, the day was incredible and filled with the best things in life - music, laughter and learning.
