Year 9 & 10 District Athletics 2023

On Wednesday 21st June, two year 9 and nine year 10 students went to Ashton Playing Fields to compete in their first borough competition. The annual borough athletics events that the students participated in on the day were 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 4x100 relay, shot put, discuss, long jump, triple jump and high jump.
The students were fantastic in all events, showing great resilience and character, putting in maximum effort to each run, throw or jump. The standout performance from the day was Aryanna Adesan, winning her 100m heat to progress through to the final. With all her team members cheering her on, Aryanna won the year 10 girls 100m final and was awarded her gold medal and 1st place position on the podium. Other high performances included Tanvir Ali in shot put winning a bronze, Aryanna Adesan in triple jump winning silver, Jibreel Abdirasaq in 200m winning silver as well as the boys relay team making it into the final heat. All these students placed high in their respective events and showed excellent teamwork throughout the day.
The PE department would like to say a big well done to all students that competed at the event and a thank you to all members of staff who contributed to ensure the smooth running of the day.
