Thames Clipper and GoApe Trip
Back
On Friday 24th January 2023 a group of year 9 students travelled to Battersea Park on a Thames Clipper Boat. The Journey on the River Thames from Barking Riverside to Battersea Park allowed the students to observe the rich culture, physical geography, old and modern architecture and the industrial past of London. The perspective of our nation’s great capital from the River was marvelled by all.
At Battersea the students discussed the changes to the UK economy as we stared up at the newly transformed Battersea Power Station Shopping centre. After a short walk we arrived at GoApe in Battersea Park where the students embarked on a high rise adventure in the tree tops where students traversed along high rise obstacles and zoomed along zip lines.
One student said:
"Before this trip I was unsure I would have the nerves to jump out of a tree onto a zip line or balance myself across an obstacle suspended in the air, however, after some words of encouragement from my peers and a few deep breaths I managed to make myself across the moving bridge and complete the zip line. I feel really accomplished and I have learnt how I can overcome mental and physical barrier “
