District Athletics 2022

On Thursday 23rd June, 14 year 9 students went to Cricklefields Stadium to compete in their first borough competition post COVID-19. The annual borough athletics events that the students participated in on the day were 100m, 200m, 300m, 800m, 4x100 relay, shot put, long jump and triple jump.
The students were fantastic in all events, showing great resilience and character, putting in maximum effort to each run, throw or jump. The standout performance from the day was Aryanna Adesan, winning her 100m heat to progress through to the final. With all her team members cheering her on, Aryanna won the year 9 girls 100m final and was awarded her gold medal and 1st place position on the podium. Other high performances included Tanvir Ali in shot put, Lewis Balamaga in long jump, Jibreel Abdirasaq in 300m and both girls and boys relay teams. All these students placed high in their respective events and showed excellent team work throughout the day.
The PE department would like to say a big well done to all students that competed at the event and a thank you to all members of staff who contributed to ensure the smooth running of the day.
