February 1st 2024

The food department organised a trip to Borough Market and Spitalfields Markets for year 10 students studying food preparation and nutrition.

Students went to gather information about a range of different ingredients used in food preparation and a range of different cultural foods. They also looked at the packaging and promotion of different items in two different locations.

Borough Market is a wholesale and retail Market hall in Southwark, London. It is one of the largest and oldest food Markets in London, with a Market on the site dating back to at least the 12th century. ' At borough Market, we don't just sell good food and drink, we celebrate it. We enjoy how it tastes and the way it makes us feel, but we also appreciate its ability to connect us to the people who produced it and the places it was made.'

Spitalfields Market is East London’s top spot for food & drinks. Eating out with us is the best because we always keep it fresh. There’s always something new happening and no two experiences are ever the same, with lots of variety to choose from. So much so, you could eat here every day for a month and always try something new and different. You’ll find a great choice of family-friendly restaurants, and our gourmet street food trucks are an amazing experience for all. We can’t get enough and bet you won’t be able to resist too! As one of the best food markets in London, Spitalfields Market is the place to be to get addicted to new tastes and gourmet cuisines.

The students were enriched with knowledge and all enjoyed their time and have taken photos to help them remember their time and have resources to use for their coursework for next year.
